Programs

Therapy Camp

The Kris' Camp therapy programs provide individualized therapy programs, often drawing on the following disciplines and provided by licensed and experienced professionals: art/art therapy, music therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech/language therapy, and education. Parents have an important role in establishing therapy goals, and have many opportunities to interact with therapists throughout the camp sessions. The therapy focuses on building relationships with a strong sensorimotor component and a 1:1 therapist/child ratio. Each therapy program typically enrolls between 6 - 9 children, depending on staff availability and the overall needs of the children.

'I Can' Camp

'I Can' is a sleepover camp in which 6-8 kids stay in cabins with two counselors per cabin and all participate in planning and helping with meals, schedules, etc. Activities are focused on socialization and recreation and are not therapy-focused, although therapeutic aspects exist as the program is led by a team of 3-4 therapists and/or counselors with experience with children with special needs. This is a more traditional camp - parents/siblings do not participate - and requires that the child be somewhat independent (with or without assistance) with daily living skills, and that they be ready for a camp away from home. -more info-

Continuing Education

This two-day course entitled, "Autism as a Psychomoter Regulation Disorder: Theoretical and Applied Implications," provides the fundamentals for theoretical and applied understandings of autism as a psychomotor regulation disorder. This course integrates theraputic philosophy from Neurologic Music Therapy Services of AZ and Kris' Camp after cumulative decades of experience working under this paradigm. Attendees can immediately apply techniques taught in this seminar to their work with clients with autism.

Camp Scholarships

Kris’ Camp offers partial scholarships based on income to help some families cover a portion (usually between 8 - 35%) of the total cost of camp. We encourage those who are considering coming to camp, but are hesitant due to costs, to at least apply for a scholarship to see what they would be eligible for. In addition, many families seek out other financial aid sources in their family, community, and state. Several families have been able to cover all camp expenses in this manner.
